Association “Sport Club Comac Sport”, Sofia, Bulgaria – Project Coordinator
Association “Sport Club Comac Sport” – Sofia, v. Ivanyane, Bulgaria is a local sport club in Sofia.
Being a sports team for more than 4 years, has conducted various sporting activities with students who have demonstrated sport achievements, coming from a number of schools in the Sofia city district – Bankya, Ivanyane, etc. The club has gained valuable experience in the realm of non-formal education, and has established fruitful collaboration with a secondary school in the village of Ivanyane. As a result, the sport trainers and coaches who work with young people have been able to integrate a strong non-formal education approach in the sporting activities they conduct.
Moreover, “Sport Club Comac Sport” has embraced the European Union’s vision for sport as a key tool for promoting social & personal values such as team spirit, discipline, perseverance & fair play, as well as for boosting knowledge, motivation and skills.
The club participates on a regular basis in the European Week of sports, both in Bulgaria and abroad.
Having in mind the above, the sport club’s main activities are focused on:
- Organizing, assisting and conducting sporting events in football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, tennis, badminton, mental sports, martial arts;
- Promoting the physical and sports culture among its members;
- Developing and promoting physical education and sport;
- Working to protect creative interests and develop the creative potential of its members;
- Developing high-level sporting skills in its members,
- Participating individually and at team-level in national & international events, and being a member of the national sports federations and associations for the types of sport practiced within the sport club;
- Highlighting the importance of sport for man’s health.
Based on those, “Sport Club Comac Sport” organizes & delivers a purposeful physical education and follows a detailed sports program, so as to improve the health and functional abilities of its members. It promotes youth activity in order to increase individual physical culture and social inclusion. In its work, the club is led by the notion that both formal and non-formal education can be complemented with sport. Thus, physical activities and sport can contribute to building and developing of skills among youth. The innovative Education-through-sport (ETS) methods, implemented by “Sport Club Comac Sport” in its daily routine, provide an excellent opportunity to learn, carrying out activities that are enjoyable & based on active participation and involvement. Bringing young people closer through the universal language of sport results in powerful learning outcomes that club members are likely to integrate into the rest of their lives.
Salas Vidusskola – Sala, Latvia – Project Partner
Sala Secondary School is a Sala municipality council subordinated educational institution for primary and secondary education.
Although the school is small (about 250 students) it carries out the national curriculum successfully and has good results at the state level, it realizes range of EU schools projects. School also offers two special education programs for students who require changes to their curriculum providing help from a qualified staff including a remedial gymnastics specialist. Currently, in addition the corrective gymnastics classes are being implemented also for parents, teachers and other residents of Sala municipality, offered free of charge.
All the students have an opportunity to engage themselves in more than 30 afterschool interest programs including different sports activities, clubs and a branch of a regional sports school to acquire healthy and sporty life-skills. Students from primary classes are involved in a project ‘My Sporty Class’ in co-operation with the Latvian Academy of Sport Education. The aim is to improve the fitness of all pupils of the class during the four school years, giving them the motivation to do sports.
The recently renovated gym provides good conditions for sports classes, various sports clubs, high level competitions and sports activities for inhabitants.
The renovated open-air ‘Health Workshop’ is an excellent example of cooperation between sports enthusiasts of all ages and a great solution for doing sports in natural environment. The environmental orienteering teams win even in an international level.
Basically the leader and main advisor of all the project sports activities is planned to be one of the sports teachers who is also a coach, gymnastics specialist. He defends a healthy lifestyle, promoting acquired knowledge even from international level courses; provides extra-curricular activities for students- tourism and environmental orienteering. Our school is proud that this year he won the title of the most outstanding sports teacher at the contest “Teacher of Sports 2018” organized by the Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia.
The school has its own site www.salas.lv where all school activities are reflected in. The school has a FB and Twitter account Salas vsk, where school news, achievements, interesting events are reflected in, which leads to a multitude of followers – students, parents, residents of the parish, school graduates and others. So all the activities of the project are always widely represented.
The educational institution implements the EU school development and innovative projects.
Sala has participated in Comenius, Individual Pupil Mobility projects, Erasmus+ KA1 and KA2, Erasmus+ Sports and eTwinning projects.
The school has an international project experience and a team of devoted experts, so during the project all the staff will work with the greatest sense of responsibility. All the directly involved participants- teachers and students – will be encouraged to work on certain tasks, use different approaches in a non-formal learning environment, develop and practice their personal attitudes on sports and healthy living.
Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos – Braga, Portugal – Project Partner
Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos – Braga was founded on 4 July 2012, due to the unification of Abel Verzim School and Barcelos Secondaryschool.
It is a Union of schools with significant local impact, covering the broad area of Barcelos District, on the two banks of the Cávado river. It provides educational opportunities to students from the Barcelos urban area to Póvoa de Varzim and Esposende’s district borderline. The positive influence of the School Union is felt deeply in the communities of Barcelos, Arcozelo, Vila Fresquinha, Barqueiros, Cristelo, Faria, Fornelos, Gilmonde, Milhazes, Paradela, Vila Seca and Vilar de Figos.
The Agrupamento de Escolas de Barcelos is for students aged 3 – 18 years. It has a Kindergarten, Primary school and Secondary school, and a total of 2400 students & 260 teachers. Being an inclusive school, it integrates students with special educational needs and fewer opportunities in all activities and projects, giving equal opportunity to everyone.
In the last 10 years, Barcelos School Union has realized a number of European projects under different Programmes and Actions: Comenius, Leonardo da Vinci, Individual Mobility of Students, Comenius Assistant and Continuing Training of Teachers.
The internationalization of students’ activities is important for their personal and educational development, and contributes for their subsequent transition to higher education and the labour market. The teachers benefit from these project by further developing their professional expertise with exchange of best practices, innovative teaching methods and continuous training. Therefore, they are motivated to regularly participate in scientific and pedagogical trainings, seminars and courses, thus improving their teaching performance.
The School Union takes part in many training actions, conducted in European and international environment under the Erasmus + Programme. With more than 800 mobilities already realized, the School Union possesses a wide experience in event organization and collaboration with foreign partners.
Športno Društvo Media Šport – Ljubljana, Slovenia – Project Partner
Športno društvo MEDIA ŠPORT – Ljubljana, Slovenia is a non-profit NGO which has been implementing 6 long-term projects in more than 10 countries.
Through sports and recreation, they bring together young people and promote active & creative spare time, foster connectedness & friendships among participants, increase social integration, promote equal opportunities & social inclusion, encourage consumption of healthy locally produced food, and contribute to intercultural & intergenerational dialogue. The quality, innovativeness and professional implementation have earned the organization and its leader Slavko Sakelšek several awards, among them the awards of the Slovenian Ministry of Education, Science and Sports, the Olympic Committee of Slovenia, and UEFA. Over 10,000 young people have participated in activities organized by Športno društvo MEDIA ŠPORT. The experienced staff of the organization also includes 120 external experts and a great number of volunteers, assisting at each event (athletes, coaches, teachers, parents etc.).
